positioned to play a critical role in increasing recruitment and retention
efforts and supporting the cultural competency of teachers to improve teaching
and learning throughout our pre-k through 12 system. To that end, the
Initiative in partnership with the Office of the Under Secretary and the Office
of Postsecondary Education’s Hispanic Serving Institutions Division<span class=""> </span> convened a group of HSI
Deans of Education to  further discuss how to increase Hispanic
participation in teacher education programs in HSIs. This group developed
two white papers on “Improving Diverse and Inclusive Teacher Pipelines” and
“Developing Quality Teacher Preparation Programs”  that contain current
research and best practices that can be implemented to increase the diverse
